In acupuncture, a common treatment for headaches is to stimulate the sensitive points located roughly in the centre of the webs between the thumbs and the first finger. These points are described as ‘targeting the face and head’.
Stanchester Community School is a secondary comprehensive school with 900 pupils in the English county of Somerset. Since the autumn of 2005 a small project has been offering acupuncture treatment on a voluntary basis to young people in the school identified with anxiety and stress, ADHD and problems controlling anger. This article describes the project, the treatment offered and the results of the treatment, including feedback from the pupils themselves.

The students at Stanchester were caught on camera by the BBC Newsround Team!
It was reported that:
Stanchester Community School is using the ancient Chinese therapy to help calm students in the classroom.
“Just before I had acupuncture for the first time I was a bit scared that the needles would hurt and that made me jumpy. When they actually went in I relaxed and realised that it wasn’t going to hurt. It was really nice to relax and I would definitely have it again”
